The complexity of microcontroller learning that must combine theoretical concepts and real practices makes it difficult for many students to master the competencies of microcontroller control systems. In addition, it is difficult to achieve practical skills that students must master without a training kit that can interpret the application of microcontroller control systems. Thus, the purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of mobile robotic training kits to improve student learning achievement, practical skills, and problem-solving skills. This study used a mixed method with a sequential explanatory design, combining true-experimental research with semi-structured interviews. It involved 76 participants, divided into 38 experimental groups and 38 control groups selected at random. The results of this study show that the mobile robotic training kit is significantly effective in improving students’ learning achievement, practical skills, and problem-solving skills in the field of microcontroller control systems. This study provides empirical evidence of the importance of implementing a mobile robotics training kit in the learning process to improve students’ competencies and prepare them with competencies relevant to the needs of the world of work. © 2025 by the authors of this article.

Purpose – The purpose of this study is to examine the ongoing underrepresentation of women in new venture creation, particularly in the context of Pakistan. This study investigates how entrepreneurial vocational training (EVT) affects entrepreneurial self-efficacy (ESE), behavior and career development among home-based working women. Design/methodology/approach – This study uses a longitudinal quasi-experimental design, administering pretest and post-test assessments to participants undergoing EVT. A control group is used for comparison. Data analysis involves assessing ESE and behavior changes over time, using statistical methods appropriate for longitudinal data. Findings – The results of this study demonstrate a significant enhancement in ESE among participants who underwent vocational training, leading to increased involvement in business startup activities compared to the control group. These findings underscore the effectiveness of EVT programs in empowering women entrepreneurs. Practical implications – This study highlights the importance of targeted entrepreneurial training programs in addressing gender disparities in entrepreneurship. Educators and policymakers can use insights from this research to design and implement more effective initiatives to boost women’s self-employment rates. Originality/value – This research contributes to the field by offering a comprehensive longitudinal perspective on the impact of EVT on women’s ESE and career development. Identifying key factors influencing women’s entrepreneurial journey provides valuable insights for designing impactful entrepreneurial programs tailored to the needs of women entrepreneurs in Pakistan and similar contexts. © 2025 Emerald Publishing Limited

This study proposes an intelligent and adaptive evaluation framework for assessing e-commerce talents in higher vocational colleges under the 'New Business' paradigm. Drawing on the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), the framework integrates expert-driven judgments with competency-based evaluation indicators across six dimensions: professional knowledge, technical application, innovation, market analysis, communication, and ethics. Based on 192 valid survey responses and 10 expert consultations, an empirical AHP-based model was constructed, with indicator weights validated through consistency testing.To address the inherent subjectivity and static nature of traditional AHP, this research introduces a forward-looking design that incorporates AI-driven concepts. A three-layer intelligent evaluation architecture is proposed, consisting of data input, evaluation logic, and feedback layers. While actual AI modeling is reserved for future work, the conceptual integration outlines how machine learning, fuzzy logic, and behavioral data from LMS and internship platforms can enable dynamic weight adjustments, personalized feedback, and real-time competency profiling. This hybrid approach not only enhances the flexibility and scalability of the evaluation process but also aligns with the digital transformation of vocational education . The study provides a theoretical and methodological foundation for the development of smart evaluation platforms and future AI-powered educational decision-support systems tailored to evolving vocational demands in the digital economy. © 2025 The Authors.

This study looks at the important elements that affect students' employability following their completion of a Technical and vocational education and Training (TVET) entrepreneurship program at the GiatMARA. GIATMARA is a Malaysian government-funded training institution under MARA, established to provide technical and vocational skills to both rural and urban youth, preparing them to become skilled workers and entrepreneurs for the country's economic needs. The study examines the effects of a number of factors, including job training programs (JTP), strategic industrial partnerships (SIP), and training initiatives (TI), on students' capacities (SC) and, in turn, their employment prospects (EP). Data from 658 GiatMARA-trained entrepreneurs was gathered through online surveys using a conceptual framework. Using structural equation modeling-partial least squares (SEM-PLS), the investigation produced a number of important conclusions. The findings demonstrate that training programs greatly improve employability prospects (EP) as well as student capabilities (SC). Comparably, it has been discovered that practical job training programs and strategic alliances (SIP) with industries significantly enhance students with competencies, which in turn promote employability. The research's main conclusion is that student competency plays a critical mediating function. It was found to be the most important element affecting employability, directly relating training efficacy to a student's performance after completing a program. The study also shows that industry engagement has the biggest direct impact on competency development, guaranteeing that graduates have highly marketable and relevant abilities. The results highlight how important it is to use cooperative training strategies to match TVET courses with industry demands. The study comes to the conclusion that increasing employability in TVET programs with an emphasis on entrepreneurship requires an integrated approach that combines skill development with real-world, hands-on training and solid industry connections. Policymakers and educational institutions looking to develop more relevant and efficient training programs that generate a workforce that is competent and prepared for the workforce should use these insights as a guide. © (c) 2025 The Authors. Within the realm of technical and vocational education (TVET) in Central Asia, this study examines contemporary ways to designing educational programs in pedagogical domains. A comparative analysis was carried out on the curricula of three universities: Kyrgyz National University named after J. Balasagyn, Issyk-Kul State University named after K. Tynystanov, and Arabayev Kyrgyz State University. The primary focus of the analysis was on the incorporation of competence-based and modular strategies, as well as the utilisation of information and communication technologies (ICT). The research employed a qualitative methodology based on document analysis of official curriculum materials and related instructional documents. These were evaluated according to structural composition, the integration of ICT, and the application of competence-based and modular approaches. The analysis also incorporated thematic synthesis and interpretive comparison to reveal both shared and divergent trends in programme design. This work, in contrast to earlier research, presents a novel methodology for aligning educational content with the requirements of the digital literacy environment, the needs of the job market, and inclusive pedagogy techniques. In doing so, it highlights how modular architecture can promote flexibility, while competence-based learning can ensure that professionals are ready to adapt to changing circumstances. In addition, the study underscores the role that information and communication technology plays in boosting interactivity and access to resources, which contributes to student involvement and autonomous development. The findings provide support for the necessity of developing a curriculum that strikes a balance between theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and technological competencies. It is advocated that recommendations be made to stakeholders at the policy level and at the institutional level in order to improve the quality of pedagogical programs in accordance with global education trends. © 2025, Precarpathian National University. Occupational safety is a cornerstone of sustainable business practices, significantly influencing employee well-being, productivity, and organisational success across all industries. This study presents a bibliometric analysis of occupational safety in vocational and workforce training, highlighting research trends, influential works, and emerging themes. Using the Scopus and Web of Science (WoS) databases, 205 initial records were retrieved and refined to 161 valid datasets through rigorous preprocessing. Employing ScientoPy, the analysis mapped publication trends, the most-cited papers, and thematic areas, revealing a significant increase in research output since 2018, driven by global safety initiatives. Key findings indicate that “Public, Environmental & Occupational Health” dominates the field, followed by “education & Educational Research” and “Engineering,” demonstrating the multidisciplinary nature of occupational safety research. Institutional trends reveal that Germany and Finland contribute extensively to this research domain. The study also identifies emerging trends, including the increasing focus on skill development, competency-based training, and integration of digital tools for safety education . However, gaps remain in addressing young workers’ specific safety needs and adapting safety training to evolving industrial demands. The findings underscore the necessity of a holistic approach that combines regulatory compliance, practical training, and innovative educational strategies to enhance workplace safety. Future research should explore interdisciplinary safety education models, digital interventions, and the effects of automation on occupational safety training. By offering a comprehensive bibliometric landscape, this study serves as an essential resource for policymakers, educators, and researchers committed to developing, implementing, and refining evidence-based strategies to enhance occupational safety within vocational education and workforce training contexts. Introduction: The school-to-work transition (STWT) represents the initial significant career milestone in young people's lives. In Italy, the Paths for Transversal Skills and Orientation (PCTOs) were introduced in upper secondary schools as an educational tool to support STWT. PCTOs aim to equip students with transversal skills that promote employability and personal development. Given limited research on PCTO effectiveness, this study examines specific PCTO characteristics in enhancing students' transversal skills and career resources. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted between April and May 2024. 567 students (M age = 17.30, SD age = 1.02, 72% males) from two vocational schools (grades 11–13) in central Italy completed a questionnaire assessing four PCTO indicators: orientation value, student involvement in PCTO design, number of PCTO experiences, and quality of the tutor-student relationship. Transversal skills and career motivational resources were also evaluated. Results: A path analysis model revealed positive associations between PCTO indicators and students' transversal skills, which, in turn, were related to career motivational resources. Contrary to expectations, the quality of the tutor–student relationship did not show direct associations with the outcomes. Additionally, results suggested that engaging in various PCTO activities may reduce the clarity of career orientation. Conclusions: Findings highlight that a quality PCTO planning fosters transversal skills, indirectly enhancing career resources. While different PCTO experiences support skill development, they may reduce the “orientation” value of the Paths. This study underscores the value of PCTOs in preparing young people for the labor market, emphasizing the importance of targeted, skill-oriented experiences. © 2025 The Author(s). Technical and vocational education and Training (TVET) programs are increasingly recognized as equipping women with essential skills to navigate the dynamic labor market. However, there is limited research on the specific impact of TVET on women's self-employability. This study explores the relationship between TVET participation and self-employability among women in Balochistan, addressing a critical gap in the literature. A mixed-methods approach was utilized, combining quantitative data from 368 current and former female TVET students in Quetta with qualitative insights from in-person interviews and focus groups involving 27 participants, including female graduates, skilled female entrepreneurs, and subject matter experts. Thematic analysis highlighted the opportunities and challenges women entrepreneurs face during and after TVET engagement. Key findings revealed that while TVET contributes positively to entrepreneurial development, many women continue to struggle with work-life balance issues. Traditional gender roles and societal expectations impose significant time and energy constraints on individuals. Moreover, limited access to credit, inadequate funding, and complex loan procedures hinder the success of female-led micro and small enterprises. Social constraints, family obligations, and interpersonal skills influence entrepreneurial outcomes. This study advocates that governments and local bodies provide family support services to help ease the burden on women who balance business and family commitments. Enhancing TVET's role in equipping women with critical skills while simultaneously addressing systemic challenges can help Balochistan foster a more inclusive and equitable economic future for female entrepreneurs. © 2025 The Authors

This study aimed to conceptualize a technology-enhanced and immersive blue curriculum to promote ocean literacy in vocational tourism education , supporting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The method involved design-based research through a structured literature review, curriculum standard analysis, and pedagogical mapping to integrate virtual reality, augmented reality, and 360° media into vocational learning domains. The results show a conceptual framework that links immersive technology with knowledge, skills, attitudes, and sustainability values to foster ocean literacy. This approach was necessary because existing vocational curricula rarely incorporate ocean-related competencies and immersive tools systematically. The proposed model offers a scalable foundation for embedding sustainability education into vocational programs. The impact of this framework is to guide future curriculum development and digital content design, ensuring that tourism graduates are equipped with professional responsibility, environmental awareness, and competencies aligned with SDG 4 and SDG 14. © School of Engineering, Taylor’s University.

Public interventions in the apprenticeship market often aim to increase demand or returns. We set up a double-sided experiment with youth and firms to analyse a subsidized dual apprenticeship program. This intervention seeks to relax financial constraints for youth by offering a wage subsidy and to make apprenticeship more attractive by providing vocational training in technical skills that complements on-the-job training. We document a large increase in youth participation in apprenticeship, yet the inflow of apprentices induces little crowding out of traditional apprentices in firms. The intervention leads to an increase in youth demand for apprenticeship, enabling firms to fill open apprenticeship positions. The subsidy compensates apprentices for low wages but does not alleviate financial constraints. Consistent with the dual training component contributing to an increase in youth demand for apprenticeship, youth perform more complex tasks and have higher earnings 4 years after the start of the experiment. © The World Bank 2024.
