On the progressive mode of CBEC talent cultivation based on the COMET model a case of BE program of application-oriented colleges

Abstract

Although the Cross-border E-commerce (hereinafter referred to as CBEC) in China is popping up at an unprecedented pace with ever-growing trade volume in recent years, there is a severe shortage of CBEC talents. Many domestic colleges offering Business English undergraduate program have endeavored to cooperate with business enterprises by establishing internship bases in order to cultivate more CBEC talents. However, such school-enterprise cooperation starts too late for Business English majors who lack enough knowledge of CBEC and colleges do not have a comprehensive plan for the training of students. This paper, based on the COMET put forwarded by Rauner and “Dual-system” applied in Germany Vocational Education, proposes a progressive model of school-enterprise cooperation to cultivate CBEC talents. The model, centered around the philosophy of “educating for profession instead of personal employment”, aims to maintain the continuity of professional education at the undergraduate level and to facilitate the reform of curriculum of Business English undergraduate program in the application-oriented colleges. © 2019 Association for Computing Machinery.
