Learning through work: augmenting vocational educational experiences to meet 21st-century work requirements

International Encyclopedia of Education: Fourth Edition
Journal · pp. 452-461
Abstract

Vocational education is often positioned as preparing (young) people for specific occupations, usually based upon national prescriptions of the capacities required to practice those occupations. However, given the constant changes in occupational and workplace performance requirements, that preparation needs to include experiences that equip VET graduates to effectively translate their education into workplace performances, and to be able to adapt what education has provided to changing circumstances required of the existing and emerging workforce requirements, often referred to as 21st Century Skills. © 2023 Elsevier Ltd.
