With the aim of improving the contribution rate of higher vocational education in social and economic growth, this paper analyses the role of higher vocational education in social and economic sustainable development. Firstly, the relationship between higher vocational education and sustainable development of social economy is analysed. According to the analysis results, the impact of higher vocational education on the input-output structure of sustainable development of social economy is analysed. Secondly, use Denison’s educational econometric model to calculate the social economic growth rate. Finally, the contribution rate of higher vocational education to economic growth is analysed according to the calculation results. The experimental results show that the contribution rate of social and economic growth of this method can reach 11.3%, and the prediction accuracy of social and economic growth can reach 99.66%, which verifies the effectiveness of this method. © © 2022 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.
