Abstract

Blended learning, the design-thinking process, project-based learning, inquiry-based learning, instruction/lecture-based learning with virtual reality technology, and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) are just some of the emerging pedagogical methods in education today. The focus of the new, more effective teaching approach is directly on students, and they are actively engaged in the learning process. Learners are expected to take an active role throughout the entire procedure as they acquire new information and improve their abilities. Students need to embrace new teaching techniques, which will improve their education while also increasing competition, encouraging collaboration, and enhancing the group dynamic in the class. The course Privacy and personal data was designed in a blended learning setting using the ADDIE model and the BDP tool, and this paper outlines the instructional design process that was used to create it. As a result, we investigated into how satisfied students were with the methods we employed and the tools we used to introduce them to the basics of data protection. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
