The effectiveness of structured scaffolding modules in project-based learning on work organizational skills

Abstract

The structured method of project-based learning is a benchmark for students in helping difficult processes become easier. This quantitative study using quasi-experimental methods with nonequivalent groups pre-post-test design aims to identify the effectiveness of structured scaffolding modules in project-based learning on work-organizing skills. A total of 90 students taking the Manufacturing Workshop Practice 1 subject were selected as respondents in the study using the purposive sampling method. This research instrument is a structured scaffolding module in project-based learning for the use of Lathe machine learning projects. The findings show that the use of structured scaffolding modules in project-based learning can enhance the skills of organizing work for polytechnic students' projects. Timeliness, completeness, and information relevant to the machine learning project are considered as a factor in students' ability to organize work. The findings of this study are intended to respond to the Polytechnic, in particular, the Department of Mechanical Engineering to enhance the existing curriculum by improving learning in the workshop using structured scaffolding in project-based learning so that the graduates who are produced are more knowledgeable and skilled. © 2023 Author(s).
