BIM curriculum development strategies in higher education: Literature review

Abstract

The university started the application of BIM learning in universities in developed countries ten years ago. However, the implementation has not been evenly distributed in several developing countries, including Indonesia. Researchers have carried out curriculum design research, and BIM implementation project studies can reference higher education in developing countries to adopt BIM learning. The author collects the names of courses that support BIM learning as a form of BIM curriculum development strategy in universities. This paper discusses 3 BIM curriculum development strategies that have been carried out by international universities so that they can be adopted in universities in developing countries. The strategies are 1) limited development of BIM courses, 2) adaptation of BIM to existing courses, and 3) a comprehensive BIM curriculum. Universities can apply this strategy in developing countries where universities still feel foreign to BIM. BIM curriculum development in higher education institutions needs to be prepared so that graduates can contribute to future development. © 2024 Author(s).
